well i just got a chance to checkout what i wrote so quickly yesterday and noticed some of what i typed was totally spelled wrong. i am trying very hard to get this keyboard dwn right.
well getting to paris was't that bad. we had a driect flight and we took our sleeping pills. they worked for a about 3 hrs until your legs feel asleep from sitting so long that you had to get up and stretch. i don't think any of snored when we were passes out. getting from the airport to the hotel was however a challenge. it took us forever to try and figure out how to use the metro or train system that we gave in and got a taxi, $70 bucks! that's france. can't believe how expensive it is. the value of the dollar falling this past week hasn't helped. dad of course is trying to eat every single eclair he can get his hands on. mom spends a lot of time warning him about his blood sugar. not a whole lot different from being at home.
so far we have been able to communicate pretty good. between moms little french she remembers from high school, dads spanish and mix of english, spanish, french we can get by.
we took the train yesterday for the first time. we had to leave the hotel at 530 am. paul and i worried everyone. apparently they were trying to decide what to do if we didn't show up. luckily we made it back to the room just on time with room service waiting for us. pretty much everyone but mom and aunt chicken slept for the 6hr ride. gordo was passed out in his suit he wore the day before...mom got a photo. he and i crashed two parisian weddings and made it to a club after. it was an awesome night. i am getting a lot more attention from men here then i ordinarily do in the US. i might find me an italian husband afterall if i don't find a french one first!
we stopped in bayonne for 3hrs, had some lunch and finally had some fantastic food. the internet cafe i was at in bayonne yesterday was pretty scary. it was also a bar and these guys got in a fight while i was on the computer. i think over rugby match so i got the heck out of there. that was one of the reasons i had to cut it short on the blog.
we are now in lourdes (monday). we spent all day at the church. we filled our jugs with holy water and man it's heavy when you have all your other stuff to lug around. dad and uncle paul had a chance to bathe in the water. it is a very special thing to do and should only be reserved for people with ailments. dad of course hasn't been too healthy lately with his diabetes and unlce paul is always having to worry about his heart.
at lunch today we had our best waiter yet. he was really young and spoke pretty good english. he wanted us to take him back with us to the united states. he kept joking about it, we think he is really serious about coming to america. i know that last line reminds some of you eddie murphy's movie coming to america, but for me i think of good old neil diamond! anyhow we took a group photo with him, exchanged emails and he said when he does make it to the US he wants to stay with us.
wish us luck cause tomorrow we have a 12hr train ride to monaco.
oh yeah....alex, mom and dad are working on your list. they do have it.
talk to all soon!
