Lourdes to Menton

Well gang we had a long journey yesterday from Lourdes to Menton (Nice). The train system is great, but 6 people with luggage trying to board a train is such a pain. I think we have a system now. Mom and aunt chicken board first with dad or uncle Paul. Then gordo and I start chucking bags up to the train. The worse part isn't the boarding...it's the moving from one platform to the next. You have to lug all your crap down a flight of stairs and walk under the train station to another set of stairs that you have to walk up with all of your suticases just to get out of there or to get to your next plarform. Gordo and I make a lot of trips up and down so our parents don't hurt themselves. Dad and uncle Paul are probably carrying more than they should and we do our best to help as much as possible. Gordo is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. I certainly am getting stronger with all the lugging of suitcases we have been doing.
Most you already know but my aunt and uncle lost their passports on one of the 3 trains we rode on yesterday.
They are on their way to the US Consulate (sorry no spell check, not sure if i got that right, my grammatical and spelling skills suck ) in Nice and Marsaille to try and get emergency passports before we try going to Italy. This means we might miss Venice and stay one more day here in Menton. This is actually not a bad thing. The weather is gorgeous! The sunrise this morning was beautiful. Wish I could upload some photos, but this computer restricts me from doing so. This place reminds us of San Felipe. It is a little cove with still water and not too crowded.
After long and stressful journey yesterday we were all so exahausted that rather than searching out a little hideaway restaurant we decided to just eat here at the hotel. Wow! We were certainly glad we ate here last night. The food, wine and service were just amazing. I shouldn't be so surprised, but we had such bad service experiences in Paris and terrible french onion soup of all things while in Lourdes that I just don't know what to expect.
Dad and Gordo went to the small casino in town last night. They were warming up for the big casino in Monaco. They both were winning about half an hour before the casino closed....i know, when do you hear of a casino closing...they are always open in the US....but not this little one here in Menton....they changed dealers the last half hour. The dealer wiped them both out in a matter of a few hands!
Well off to the beach! We will try to update you all on our passport fiasco tomorrow. Cross your fingers!
